1. Survey Results Review

At the April Board meeting, the School Accountability Committee presented a summary of results from the recent parent/guardian survey. We are grateful for all who took the time to provide us with their feedback and the team that spent many hours compiling the results to present the Board with great recommendations. Surveys like this truly help us identify what’s working well and where we can make adjustments to improve the educational experience for our students. More to come on actionable items we pulled from your responses. You can view the presentations here

2. Curriculum

Thank you to the parents and staff who helped JA Elementary administration recommend the purchase of a new ELA curriculum for grades K-6. The Board approved the purchase of HMH’s Into Reading and Into Literature curriculum, which will be used in classrooms for the next six years. We are excited to see this curriculum selection positively affect the educational success of our students.

Additionally, at the last board meeting, The Summit Academy South teacher, Lena O’Brien, told us about her unique Mountain Adventures class. It was a fun and engaging presentation about the outdoor skills her students learn. She even provided rope to everyone in attendance, and demonstrated knot-tying by teaching us how to tie a clove hitch. We love seeing the enthusiasm and personality she and all of our teachers bring to the classroom each and every day.

3. Breaking Ground on the Track + Grandstands

We have officially broken ground on our upgraded track and grandstands at the Secondary school. This marks a major milestone in improving our athletic facilities and school spirit while being able to host larger events at our school. In addition to the new all-weather track and seating, the upgrades will include two new shot put pits and a new high jump area to support our field athletes. These additions will provide our students with high-quality spaces to train, compete, and grow. Construction will take place over the summer and we can’t wait to celebrate its completion with our entire school community. You can view the proposed drawing of the completed project here

4. Thank you PTO and Boosters!

The Jefferson Academy Board of Directors would like to highlight the incredible involvement of all the parent volunteers who serve on the PTO and Booster programs at each of our campuses. Thanks to their hard work planning fundraising events and organizing community gatherings, Jefferson Academy enjoys a strong sense of connection and belonging among our families.

  • Our JA CCC PTO recently presented on their incredible contributions during their first year as an organization. You can view their presentation here.

  • Our JA Elementary PTO continues to actively support staff and families through a variety of events, fundraisers, and monthly teacher appreciation activities.

  • Our Booster programs play a vital role in supporting not only the athletic department, but also school facilities and the many student clubs offered across all campuses.

We are truly grateful for the dedication and countless hours these groups invest to help make our school the amazing place it is.

If you’re someone who enjoys building community and supporting school projects and clubs, we encourage you to get involved at Jefferson Academy!

5. 25/26 Fee Structure

At the last Board meeting, we finalized our fee structure for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. While fees are not usually something to get excited about, through great leadership and following our principle of financial fortitude, we are able to actually reduce some fees going into next year! Combining some technology fees together, we were able to reduce the fees you will see next year. The fees that are paid at the beginning of the year cover everything from field trips, supplies for classes, instructional content, and technology. Thank you for supporting the mission and vision of Jefferson Academy and continuing to make our school one of the best!

Sincerely,

Your JA Board
