Report an Attendance Event
Please use this form to report an absence, a late arrival, or an early/late pickup for your student.
We understand that part of the beauty of homeschooling is flexibility. All absences should be reported for safety reasons. Teachers will communicate their policy regarding make-up work in the syllabus for each class. When your student will be absent, please assist them in following each teacher’s policy, including contacting teachers to communicate about what was (or will be) missed in class.
Absences
Please report all absences to the Attendance Secretary via the attendance form. The form can be found on our website under the Parents tab at: www.thesummitacademysouth.org/attendance. You can also find the link in the Info Center section of our website at: www.thesummitacademysouth.org/info-center. If you have attendance-related questions, please contact our attendance secretary, Aspin Schulz at Aspin.Schulz@jeffcoschools.us.
Attendance reporting is, first and foremost for the safety of your student(s). We take our responsibility to verify the presence of each student in each class very seriously. When families do not report absences, they should expect a phone call from the SAS Attendance Secretary, as well as an automated phone call from the district, reporting an unresolved unexcused absence to the parents. This is part of the checks and balances system of any school program and is in place to keep your students safe.
Late Arrival
Please report all late arrivals to the Attendance Secretary via the attendance form. Choose the “Late Arrival” option. Please fill in the expected arrival time in the comment area, as this helps us to report their absence only from the pertinent periods. In the case of an unexpected late arrival, you may call the SAS main phone number: (720) 544-3667.
Early Pick-up
If you need to pick up your student(s) early, please report the early pick-up on the attendance form first. When you arrive at the school for pick-up, come to the designated doors (dependent on location) and we will retrieve the student from class. Teachers have been instructed not to let any student leave unless an office worker summons them, which means students are unable to meet parents out front. Students will not be released during the school day without a parent’s or pre-arranged adult’s signature on the check-out form in the front office area, so please plan to walk into the building.
Authorization for Pick-up
If someone other than a parent or guardian will be picking up your student(s), please report this on the attendance form. Leave a comment explaining the alternative pick-up arrangements.
